President’s Report

Spring TSCA Board Meeting

March 10, 2007

Following the fall TSCA Board Meeting in November, as President I attended the TCA Conference, presided over the TSCA Luncheon, and moderated the TSCA General Meeting which was held on Monday afternoon, November 20, 2006, at the Marriott in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The members at the general business meeting conducted themselves professionally; therefore, business was conducted in a timely manner and everyone had time to prepare for the banquet.  The TSCA Luncheon was a success thanks to our president-elect, Christie Maupin, and her committees.  Congratulations to the winners of all of the awards and thanks to Becky Murray, Betty Allen, and Lana Craig for submitting the pictures of the award winners in the TSCA Winter Newsletter.

During the months of January and February, I represented TSCA at the SMCA Meeting in January in Knoxville and Martha Polk Counseling Association Meeting in February in Jackson.  Also at the Counselor Institute in February, Heather Henke, the PR Committee, Linda Ryan and I represented TSCA at the TSCA Booth during the exhibitor reception at the Counselor Institute, and since our booth was next to TCA’s we displayed a very professional, united front for all counselors.  We had over 100 counselors register for a door prize at the booth.  Also during the winter months, I assisted Betty Allen, newsletter co-chair in making decisions about the winter electronic newsletter.  Problems occurred in trying to send the newsletter electronically, but thanks to Betty, Lana, Jeffrey, and Jennifer the newsletter did get sent to the members.

Since November I have answered correspondence and have been preparing for the Spring TSCA Board Meeting.  Board members have been asked to submit their reports to Jeffrey for the list serv or bring a typed report to the meeting.  The Spring TSCA Board Meeting will be held on Saturday, March 10 beginning at 12:00 p.m. following the TCA Board Meeting.  On Friday night prior to the TSCA Board Meeting, I will attend the TCA Board Meeting to represent TSCA.  Board Members have also been asked to bring requests for line items for their committees if needed so that Christie, president-elect, will have time to work with the treasurer to prepare the budget for 2007-08, and since March 10 will be the last active meeting for the 2006-07 TSCA Board, members have been asked to turn in their TSCA Board Folders so that this will save time and money for Christie and the new board.

 Respectfully submitted,

Paulette Crews

TSCA President
